Tom Rimshot
Intrusion's sound marks a fine line between genres: Heavy bass gives way to rhythms that are at one moment rootsy dub, techno at another. Further still, the swirling atmospheres that settle over the rhythm like a drugged haze are beautiful ambient sweeps and sublime chordal structures in their own right. This expansive set compiles 3 hours of music, incl. the return of Variant with a 70+ minute "etherscape", recalling the head-trips of classic Echospace albums like Grandbend and Vantage Isle.
Favorite track: amongst the stars [variant's etherscape].
